Coffee Break Online Papercrafting Workshop

Ever since I saw the Coffee Break Suite in the brand new Stampin’ Up! Catalog for 2017-2018 I was deperate to get my hands on it! So, I thought, why not share my excitement and host an online workshop using it! The workshop will take place entirely online, but I will be mailing out a physical kit with a sample of some of the products. Full details of the workshop are at the end of the post, but first, let’s take a closer look at the Coffee Break product suite!

The first thing that really caught my eye about the suite was definitely the designer series paper pack. The pack contains 12 sheets of double sided DSP. There are 2 sheets of each of the 6 designs all using Early Espresso, Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz, Soft Sky, Soft Suede and Whisper White. My favourites are the wood grain pattern and the coffee bean pattern, although the coffee stains are also really cute! There is also a co-ordinating cardstock stack to go with the paper.

Untitled

Next up, I wanted to give you a closer look at the great value Coffee Cafe Photopolymer Bundle. This includes a 16 pieces photo polymer stamp set that matches the DSP perfectly and the co-ordinating set of 13 framelit dies that fit the stamps perfectly. Each pack is also available separatly if you don’t want both, but if purchasing together as a bundle you will save yourself more than 10%!

There are also plenty of embellishments to match including ribbons and other elements. This is the ideal product suite for making gifts, cards and sweet treats for your coffee lover friends. However, even if you are not a huge fan of coffee, this is also perfect for creating hot chocolate or smoothie inspired crafts – the bundle includes ice cubes, straws and whipped cream!

Workshop Information

Now that you have seen the products, let’s talk about the workshop. If you have never taken part in one of my workshops in the past then this is how it works – you book a place on the workshop and you are invited to join a private group. Over the course of the weekend (Friday evening to Sunday evening) I periodically share exclusive tutorials using the kit as well as a few games and challenges. You will not only get to enjoy a weekend of crafting with like minded individuals, but you will also get the chance to pick up some fabulous prizes!

This month’s kit includes : DSP Samples, Ribbon, Cardstock, Die Cuts, Stampin’ Dimensionals, Envelopes and an Embellishment pack. It it the perfect way to sample the product suite without having to commit to the whole pack. I also offer the opportunity to ‘level up’ your kit with the addition of Stamps, Dies and Ink if you want some extras.

I like to keep the actual projects under wraps until the weekend, but as an idea of what you can expect to make some of the things I have in store this month include a small gift/favour, notecards, boxes, gift cards and more.

The workshop takes place on the 7th to 9th July 2017 and workshops must be paid for no later than 23rd June 2017 to allow me to order and dispatch your kit. If you are interested in taking part, please complete the form below indicating which level of kit you would prefer and I will send you an invoice. The options are as follows :

Quick & Easy Monochrome Card – #TeamieTuesdays

TeamieTues

Welcome back to another Teamie Tuesday here are Scarlet Moon Crafts. This week our theme was ‘For Him’, but I didn’t have any of the traditionally male Stampin’ Up Products on hand. So I decided to show you a quick and easy way to make a unisex card using monochrome!

TT_ForHim

My son is sitting his Highers this month so I made him a wee card to wish him good luck. I’m using the Pop of Pink suite, but focusing on the black and the gold in the suite as it’s for a boy! I’ve also made a matching envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.

Foxy Flip Book Mail Art – #TeamTuesdays

TeamieTues

This week, the theme for our Teamie Tuesday challenge was ‘My Favourite Craft’. This really has left the challenge wide open, since all of us on the team have different areas that we ‘specialise’ in! I know that Kelley has done a stunning 3D project while Michelle is doing some stamping. One of my personal favourite things is to make mail art – you may already have guessed that since I have my mail art workshop coming up very soon. There are still two spots open! So, I decided that this week I am making a flip book to send to a pen pal. I haven’t put up a full tutorial because you will need to join in with the workshop for that, but I hope you enjoy seeing what I have made.FlipBook01

The front cover of my flip book has some stamped images along with a few tags cut from cardstock and punched withe the triple banner punch. I also used a little honeycomb embellishment.

FlipBook02

The inside of the front cover has a secretarial pocket which I have tucked a few journal cards in for my pen pal and the facing page has a little pocket which will hold the letter.FlipBook03

Over the page we have another little pocket which contains a mail tag with some questions and prompts that my pen pal can answer in her next letter. There is just some decoration on the other page and a little banner with some golden paper clips for my friend.

FlipBook04

This next page has two different pockets to tuck in a few goodies. I added some enamel dots in one and washi samples in the other. Then on the back page I have clipped a little envelope made from vellum using my Envelope Punch Board which I then filled with some flower embellishments.

FlipBook05

Products Used:

Foxy Friends Photopolymer Stamps | Fox Builder Punch | Better Than E-mail Photopolymer Stamps (Retiring Item) | Foxy Friends Cardstock (Retiring Product) | Envelope Punch Board | Vellum | Basic Black Archival Stampin’ Pad | Emerald Envy Classic Stampin’ Pad (2016-2018 In Colour) | Triple Banner Punch | Honeycomb Embellishments (Clearance Item)

Three For Thursday: Let’s Hear It For The Boys!

TFT

Welcome back to another Three for Thurdsay post here at Scarlet Moon Crafts. This week I am turning my attention to the boys! I have my teenager’s 17th birthday looming and my husband is about to graduate university – not to mention Father’s day is fast approaching! Have you ever noticed that it can be tough to find gorgeous craft supplies for adult male cards and projects? I am like a little magpie drawn to bright colours and glitter so my stash needs a serious testosterone injection. I have sat down with a cuppa and the Stampin’ Up! catalogue and found some wonderful products for male projects. These are my top three!

3 – Bookcase Builder Stamp Set

This is not necessarily a male orientated set, but I think the Bookcase Builder Stamp Set is a great option if you want to make a card for a male friend or relative. It is ideal for building up a bookcase to replicate his office or man-cave, but it is versatile enough that you can make a card for just about anyone. It is also great for new home or new job cards!

2 – One Wild Ride Stamp Set

These One Wild Ride Stamps are great for making male cards and projects, even if the man in your life is not a biker. You could also use them to document bike shows, trips to the transport museum or even road trips. This is a two step stamp set which means that you can build up the image your way!

1 – Urban Underground Suite

Urban Underground

My top pick for this week is the Urban Underground Suite. Sometimes it is really hard to find a nice ‘male’ or at least gender neutral kit that is not for kids. I think the Urban Underground Suite really hits the nail on the head – if you pardon the pun! The core colours are Basic Black, Basic Grey, Delightful Dijon and Very Vanilla with a touch of silver foil. Although the overriding theme of the set is actually construction and father’s day, the patterns on the paper are geometric and would actually work well for any occasion and any gender. I’ve seen it paired with the Beautiful You Stamp Set for a really feminine card too, so it is really versatile.

Spring Treat Box With Stampin’ Up! #TeamieTuesdays

TeamieTues

Welcome back to another edition of Teamie Tuesdays, where the Ugly Bug Stampin’ Up Team get together and create a new project using the same theme. It’s a great way to see all of the different ways that Stampin’ Up products can be used. This week our theme is ‘Spring’. That is a pretty open ended theme and it means different things to different people. I sat down to think about what spring means to me. We just recently celebrated Ostara which is all about the rebirth of the Earth. The weather starts improving, the days get longer and new growth starts to sprout in our gardens and green spaces. We celebrate with symbols of this like Eggs, Rabbits and Flowers. School just broke up for Spring Break and the clocks have gone forward too. Before we know is Easter is going to be upon us! Spring has well and truly sprung!

Even although we have already shared our chocolate eggs on Ostara, I know plenty of people will be doing so on Easter Sunday instead, so I am sharing this tutorial for making a cute little Egg Box which makes a lovely little Easter gift. It fits 2 standard chocolate eggs – Creme Egg, Lindor Egg, Caramel Egg etc.

EggBox01

Easter Egg Duo Gift Box

I am using DSP from the Festive Birthday range because they are so bright and colourful! You will need one piece of paper measuring 6 inches by 6 inches and also the Envelope Punch Board. The only other items you need for this are your choice of adhesive and any embellishments that you want to use.

EggBox02

The first step is to punch and score our paper. Your starting size is 6 inches by 6 inches, so you will be able to get 4 boxes out of a single sheet of 12 by 12 DSP. Start by lining your paper up at 1.5 inches on your Envelope Punch Board and punch the edge. You then score the paper at this setting too.

EggBox03

Rotate your paper 45 degrees and line it up at 3 inches. Once again, Punch and score the paper at this setting. You are then going to repeat both of those steps on the other two sides of the paper.

So, to summarise :-

  1. Side 1 is punched and scored at 1.5 inches.
  2. Side 2 is punched and scored at 3 inches.
  3. Side 3 is punched and scored at 1.5 inches.
  4. Side 4 is punched and scored at 3 inches.

EggBox04

Once the first punches have been completed this is were it gets slightly tricky as we need to make a second punch on each side of the paper. Your envelope punch board has a little indicator on the punch that you would normally use to line up your envelopes. What you need to do is line up the score lines with this indicator and then punch. Do this on each side of the paper.

EggBox05

EggBox06

Now flip your punch board around and use the reverse punch to round off the edges of the two largest ‘points’ on your paper.

EggBox07

Now we need to make a couple of cuts in the paper in order to allow us to construct our little boxes. If you look at the smaller ends of the shape you will see that the scoring has created tabs. On each of these you need to make one cut along the score line. It doesn’t really matter which direction you go, but do make sure that all four are the same direction. Personally I make the cuts on the longer side.

EggBox08

Fold these tabs and use your favourite adhesive – snail or fast fuse is ideal – and secure the tabs inside the box. You now have your basic box shape!

EggBox09

You can use your choice of embellishments to decorate the boxes. I have added Bright Enamel Shapes and a little tag stamped in Flirty Flamingo using the Birthday Fiesta Stamp Set.

EggBox10

Now all that is left is to pop your eggs in and secure the boxes shut. You can glue them or use magnetic tape or even velcro – the choice is yours!

EggBox11 EggBox12
